Hope you guys can make it for what should be a fun night! More dates and towns TBA.
Had fun on the Sirius/XM show this past monday with Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth, Joe Elliott and a studio visit from Herman Rarebell. Herman made my night when he told me he lives in the same town as Phil Mogg and Phil and Pete are talking and Pete is healthy! Great news for UFO fans and lets hope things stay on track. Herman was fun to have on the show and seems like he very much wants to perform again as much as possible. I'll see him and the current Scorps next weekend in OK City at Rock N America. Joe spent an hour on air and took calls from the audience and was great. His new CD is the Down N Outz. Jon Schaffer's side band is Sons Of Liberty. I'll see them at Nokia with IE in Sept. Interesting and educating stuff as always from Jon. This Monday on ET Live Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel pays a visit and Slash and Dave Meniketti scheduled to call in. Live at 6PM EST on Sirius 19, XM 53.
Caught Maiden at PNC Sunday. Amazing crowd and thank to the hundreds that said hello, took photos with me, and asked me to sign something. It was awesome and I thank you all for your support. Would have hung out longer if security did not make me move! So grateful that you guys support what I do and show that kind of appreciation. As for the show, we all knew the set. That debate will never be settled. Some fans happy, some not. It's obvious now Maiden have a theme to their tours and this one was mostly last 10 years. I love BNW and it was a class move by Bruce to send out Blood Brothers to Dio. But I do understand the fans that want balance in the set. As I have said, very important to check online what Maiden are playing and buy tickets if it's something you like. As simple as that really. If you don't like the set list, still buy tickets, then bitch, you have no case. Again, I totally see both sides of it but Maiden role to their own beat and it has clearly served them well by the amount of fans they have doing things their way. My only real problen with the show was the sound. Where I was at the sound board Bruce's vocal seemed to by in and out of the mix some. Could have just been the wind blowing it where I was. Another plus is Janiick did not dance as much! El Dorado sounded cool and I just got another new song I'll air on the radio this weekend. Rod Smallwood told me Maiden will not tour again after the album comes out 8/17 until next year in the USA, and that tour will focus on the new CD.
Dream Theater played a great opening set of all the heavy stuff. That's the side of the band I really love so it was a dream set for me. This is a great movve for DT and a great move for Maiden to have them out as they clearly bring fans as well as being master players. Portnoy was pissed I didn't see them do MSG the next night (I was on air at Sirius/XM), but I told him I will see them headline MSG, which I really think is coming soon for these guys. I went to this show with Florentine and we go to go out on stage before DT which was cool.
Final new TMS of the season this Saturday with the Scrap Metal outakes special. This show was shot at Duffs in Brooklyn and has some hysterical stuff you didn't see with Slayer, Dokken/Lynch, Adler, Zombie, Halford and more, plus backstage footage from our LA season. Don't miss the premiere at 11 this Saturday on VH1 Classic. More new TMS coming on October and thanks to all watching around the world as the show has gone global!
