12/22/09: Long day in NYC yesterday that included a big meeting at VH1 to plan That Metal Show for 2010. Really excited to share some great things with you guys in the new year on the TV side. New shows for Season 4 start taping in NYC 1/12 and ticket info now up on the home page. First new shows air first Saturday of Feb. Might also have a TMS marathon soon of all the shows to this point if you missed any. I'll let you know on that once I find out. Thanks for your support and we are all psyched to keep this going into the new year on VH1 Classic. I then sat im with Ron & Fez on their Sirius/XM show doing the last hour live. Always fun to be on with my old friends and the time just blows by once we get into stuff. The main thing we talked about was my outspoken rant on the R&R Hall. They also sprung something on me on air I had no idea about! USA Today had me on their list of coolest people for 2009! I was shocked and had no idea!! Especially to come in at #68 ahead of some HUGE legends. Really crazy and incredibly cool and I thank Whitney who wrote the story. I do not know her but think she attended a TMS taping once. I then did my own Siriius/XM show playing regular and holiday metal and taking calls and requests. Also had Larry Harris on who wrote a book on the history of Casablanca Records called "And Party Everyday". Great read on the label and biz in the 70's.
Insane amount of email over my R&R Hall rant. I hear you all loud and clear and appreciate the support. The latest most offensive snub to Kiss is just the tip of the iceberg. Its much bigger than that. It's about you and I, real rock fans that obviously have no say in this private little club of music elitists. I am and will always be vocal about it because most people don't realize how many bands are NOT in, over marginal bands that are. Kiss is just one (and maybe the biggest) band to be dissed for years. Eventually the Hall will need to put these bands in because they will need their fans to fund the place. That's why I wish bands would stand up to them when they do some calling and tell them to blow it out their ass! Off the top of my head, just in case you didn't know, here are some bands NOT in the Hall and many never considered and all are eligible: Kiss, Rush, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Jethro Tull, Yes, Chicago, Dio and countless more. And lets not forget they made Van Halen and Sabbath wait for over a decade before caving and putting them in. Disgrace! Now lets all flock to see ABBA go in this year!?!?! I also hear from many saying start your own Hall. Easier said than done folks. Again, the problem is the mainstream does not know how disrespectful they have been to real rock acts. They think the artists listed above and many more are in! That's why I rant. Not only as a fan, but to get others on board.
