VH1 Classic specials this weekend, TS, Adler, Squier.
6/30/09: Great time last night with Steven Adler and Chip Z'nuff in studio. Chip has been a bud for a long time and Adler is just a really nice guy. He clearly is happy to be healthy and playing again, and looks better than I have seen in a long time. He clearly wants a G&R reunion in a big way and is banging the drum hard, but who knows if it will ever happen. Line of the night from him was when I asked him about the current lineup of the band and he yelled; "THERE IS NOBODY IN THE BAND EXCEPT AXL"! Passionate guy who says what he feels which always makes for a great guest. Thanks to Freddie from Dingbatz for bringning Adler and Chip in. Always fun guests. Also spent almost three hours talking with Dee Snider, Mark Mendoza and Jay Jay French who came into the studio. Of course I have a long history with TS being the one to first get them back together for NY Steel almost eight years ago. Hard to believe the reunion is still going and Stay Hungry is now 25 years old! Look forward to seeing the band live at both Rocklahoma and Rock Gone Wild festivals. Great to have the guys in, tons of stuff covered. Audio and video to be available soon of all interviews. We even talked about the 10th Anniversary of NY Steel so who knows what we come up with in 2011! New issue of Stay Hungry out now. Final Eddie Trunk Live this Monday before Rocklahome 2009. I'll be playing music from many of the bands playing the festival and also have a call in from Kip Winger who will be helping me with hosting duties in Pryor OK this year. Hope to see many of you there.
Have not mentioned yet that I am real psyched to hear Billy Squier is doing his first full electric tour in ages. I was always a fan of Billy's songs and saw him so many times back in the early 80's. He's a guy who I always felt his hits were far from his best songs. Obviously not a metal act by any stretch, but a great straight up rock singer and songwriter and I'm glad he's back. Hope to have him on the Sirius/XM show soon.
