Speaking of Rocklahoma we are now just over a week away from the opening night on 7/9. Really excited about seeing some of the bands on this years fest including old friends like Anthrax, Thin Lizzy, Overkill and Saxon who are playing it for the first time, the comeback story of all time in metal Anvil, and some olf favorites like Ratt, TS, Warrant and more. Can not wait to hang for four days with the good people of OK or wherever your coming from. I'll see you there all four days. Didn't get tickets yet? Head to the link on my home page and I'll see you there for another hot and sweaty rock and metal party.
The new edition of Def Leppard Pyromania now out. This is a must buy not only for the remastered original CD, but more importantly the tremendous 1983 live show bonus disc that show Def Lep at their heavy rock peak. Speaking of live CDs, really lovog the new Priest Live CD advance I have been playing. No hits, all heavy stuff including one of my faves from Nostradamus "Death" live. This to me really is the follow up to Unleashed In The East and Scott Travis drums sound incredible as does the entire band. Get this also when it comes out. Priest at their crushing best for true Priest fans! Look forward to seeing the guys 8/8 in Vegas, which is the show I plan on making on the tour.
Impossible to escape the crazyness around the death of Michael Jackson. It's always incredible to me how little the main stream media knows about the music industry when they are forced to cover it. I actually saw Geraldo Rivera last night not know the difference between concert promoter AEG, which had the rights to Jackson's recent booked live shows, and insurance company AIG! He actually made a case that since AIG got a bailout that we the tax payers would be paying for Jackson's cancelled UK tour! Unreal!! I know mistakes happen, but some of these people have as much business talking about the music industry than I would talking global politics. I also can not stand that some people are making Jackson out to be a victim. At 50 years old its hard to comprehend that someone could not get a handle on their life and be responsible in some way. Was he a talent? No doubt. A victim? Please. To me an example of a victim was someone who died the same day and was quickly totally overshadowed, Farrah Fawcett. She did nothing to bring her tragic end on herself and was a victim of a horrible disease. That is a victim to me! Don't get me wrong, sad to see anyone die so soon, but lets not forget there was some real questionable things that surrounded this guy for a long time.
Info coming soon on air dates for our Download special edition TMS shows to VH1 Classic.
New stuff I'm listening to: Duff McKagan's Loaded, Dream Theater, UFO, Def Lep live Pyromania, Judas Priest Live, Chickenfoot, Heaven & Hell, Richie Kotzen. Every single person I have turned on to Kotzen is blown away and becomes and instant fan. Amazing when someones music and talent alone can sell people that quickly.
