What's up Metalheads? I'm really happy with the Geoff Tate episode of That Metal Show. Geoff can sometimes be very serious but he brought a great spirit to the show and had fun with the 3 of us throughout. Not any easy task dealing with us 3 idiots when you're trying to promote and album about soldiers of war. At the top of the show, we talked about how metal can attract new fans and while there's lots of new ways like Myspace/Facebook, Video games, etc...I believe the best way to bring new fans into the metal fold is to raise them! When the 3 of us did an in-store signing at Vintage Vinyl in NJ, you wouldn't believe how many metal heads showed up with their young children who were budding metal heads! There were 5 year old girls saying that they love AC/DC and 5 year old boys who had just seen their first Metallica concert. Amazing!
Also in the show is an interview that Eddie did with Lars Ulrich backstage at one of their Jersey shows. Great interview and we even found out that Lars illegally downloaded "Death Magnetic." Hilarious.
Our Pick Of The Week was www.blabbermouth.net. It is the NY Times of heavy metal news. I read it every morning while I'm eating my bagel and drinking a Miller. The Throwdown was 70s vs 80s metal and the correct answer, of course, is 70's metal. AC/DC, Sabbath, Priest, Lizzy, Motorhead. Need I say more?
Most importantly, thanks to all of you who watch the show, this episode was our HIGHEST RATED SHOW so far. So two devil horns up to all you loyal Metallians!
