Don Recaps Season 2 - Episode 3

I must admit I've never been a huge Extreme fan.  My fondest memory of them is drunkenly making out with this girl in a bar in NJ to "More Than Words."  I was totally in love with her.  That is, until I sobered up and sw that she had a mustache.  Anyway, Gary and Nuno were great guests and we talked about everything from the new CD and tour, Rocklahoma and Gary camping out on Nuno's lawn.

At the top of the show we discussed how downloading singles affected the sale of CD's.  Obviously it's made it more difficult for bands to sell CD's but I'm old school.  I want to see the artwork, the lyrics and even the special thanks (I've been known to get a few in my lifetime).  I can't wait for LP's to come back into style.  They have in the punk scene and hopefully metal will follow.  Shit, if I could get my hands on a rotary phone, I'd get one of those two.

The field piece is Jim and I on our metal vacation in England to tour around with Motorhead.  We shot our segment right in front of the legendary Hammersmith where Motorhead recording their live classic, "No Sleep Till Hammersmith."  It's similar to the Van Halen piece we did in Season One where we told fans that we had a direct feed into Motorhead's dressing room and that they could ask the band any question they want.  In this one we also had the band requesting articles of clothing from people.  Let's just say, a fan with big boobs rips off their underwear and almost gets naked.

We did something different with the POW, with all 3 of us choosing a band that we love that flies under the radar.  My pick was a band from LA called, "The Binges."  I love them so much I do a joke about their guitarist and bass player in my stand-up act.  They are two Japanese sisters named Tsuzumi and Mayuko.  Go ahead, write your own joke about them.  It's fun!

"What Ever Happened To" this week was Jason Newstead from VoiVod, Echobrain and oh yeah...METALLICA.  Let's not even talk about Supergroup!  Cool to hear Jason will be playing with Metallica when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame...I mean, Fame.  Boy, Eddie is really rubbing off on me.

The Throwdown was meanest album, Slayer "Reign In Blood" vs. Pantera "Vulgar Display of Power."  Eddie was the only one to pick Slayer.  Even Gary and Nuno picked Pantera.  Not one person in the studio audience picked Slayer.  It was unanimous...PANTERA baby!  R.I.P Dimebag.
