Eddie's Recap of Show 2 - Guest Anthrax
Really enjoyed this show as Frankie is a good friend who I have known for well over 20 years. Anthrax was one of the bands I grew up with and I got into radio right around the time Fistful Of Metal came out. Of all the Anthrax guys Frank is the one I've been closest with over the years and talk with the most, so it was cool to have him on the show and then work the other guys in as well through the field segment. I really liked this show and I think it's best described as the "shit" show since that was much of the conversation (what do you expect when Don and Jim are left to do the questioning!). Also cool to hear new singer Dan Nelson in the live clip. He sounded great and that's actually the only time I heard him sing so far. As far as Euro festivals VS American it's pretty obvious that Europe is still leading the way big time. I think it's also because they have much more experience with festivals there, the fans are more open minded, the artists like playing them and book their schedules around them, and they spend the money to really make them special. The US is trying, but few have hit the right formula and been able to build them over the years. Pick Of The Week was a film that featured Rush, need we say more? Whatever Happened To was Lou Clemente from Testament. Interesting to see a guy go from thrash drummer to antique dealer. Finally GnR VS VH was a Throwdown that someone sent in to this site and I thought it would be a good one. Nothing against Appetite, but to me, the first VH is just landmark. Would there have been a GnR without VH? Also VH has a 10 year head start and still holds up well, making it the no brainer for me between these two, even though Appetite is obviously classic as well.
